**Update April 22, 12 p.m.** - Gov. McMaster extends school closure through the end of the school year -

Gov. Henry McMaster announced today in a joint press conference with South Carolina Superintendent of Education Molly Spearman that all schools will remain closed through the end of the school year. On behalf of Dr. Cook, our Board of Trustees, and District Administration, we remain thankful to our teachers, students, and families for the remarkable job each of you have done over the past six weeks and in the weeks ahead adjusting to remote learning.

While our buildings will continue to be closed, our instruction and eLearning will continue through our scheduled last day of school on Thursday, June 4. We will share additional information and details as soon as possible regarding additional cycles of eLearning.

We understand you will have questions and concerns about today’s announcement. Rest assured, our team will develop plans for students and staff to temporarily visit campuses to close out the school year and return materials to school and collect personal belongings that remain on campus.

We will continue providing daily “grab and go” meal service at 15 designated distribution sites in our community to any child under the age of 18. At this time, we will continue the contactless delivery of Back the Pack food packs to students who rely on this program. Times and locations are available on our website,

Today’s announcement also impacts large events such as high school graduation. We will be announcing plans to recognize our graduates as soon as they are determined. We understand this school year has not gone as planned for our community, and we've been impressed by the commitment to education our students, families, and staff have shown during this unprecedented time.

We hope everyone will continue to stay safe and healthy as we navigate this situation.

Please be assured that we will continue to provide support and services to all of our families and students.

Follow us on Facebook and Twitter @parentsmart1 as we are adding additional resources, activities and some fun challenges that we hope you will participate in.

  • Celebrating 25 years!

ParentSMART is...

  • ParentSMART

    ROCK HILL Schools

    Parent Education Partnership

ParentSMART began in 1995 as a mandate from the South Carolina State Department of Education under Act 135. The mandate stated that all school districts in the state would create Parent Education programs to support parents in their role as their child’s best and first teacher. Over the past 21 years, ParentSMART has grown into much more, supporting families in their role as the child’s most influential teacher. Through our partnerships, both formal and informal, ParentSMART has evolved into a one-stop shop, Family Resource Center dedicated to empowering families in order for their children to become successful in school as well as in life. Our vision is that all families will have the knowledge, power and courage to reach their greatest potential today and in the future. Our mission continues to align with the Early Learning Partnership and the Family Resource Centers in York County which states that “ParentSMART and the Rock Hill Family Resource Center provide leadership, educational support and resources, to implement quality programs that strive to engage and empower parents in their role as their child's first teacher. The Center offers a family-focused environment that welcomes culturally and socio-economically diverse families."
