Note: The Palmetto School is a locally-sponsored charter school serving students placed at the Children's Attention Home.
Who We Are
We provide a safe and individualized educational experience that stimulates academic achievement and personal empowerment for abused, neglected, abandoned, or homeless children.
What We Do
The Palmetto School at the Children’s Attention Home serves children who have been removed from their home by DSS for reasons of abuse, abandonment, or neglect, and reside at the on campus shelter, The Children’s Attention Home. We also serve children who reside at other local shelters such as Pilgrim’s Inn, Family Promise and Safe Passage. Our students are in kindergarten through 8th grade. The Palmetto School is a Fine arts school that integrates the arts to help students improve learning and heal from their Life’s trauma and situation. Most of our Fine Arts Staff are volunteers that have served our school for the past 6 years. The school also focuses on meeting the basic needs of the children while providing a solid, appropriate, individualized academic program. Utilizing classrooms with low teacher to student ratios, children are able to spend significant individual or small group time with the teacher. Considerable emphasis is placed on teaching the children the appropriate behavioral skills needed for them to prosper as students.
