Teacher Technology Proficiency Proviso

  • Proviso 1.A.32 states that:  To ensure the effective and efficient use of the funding provided by the General Assembly in Part IA, Section 1 XI.E.2 for school technology in the classroom and internet access, the State Department of Education shall approve district technology plans that specifically address and incorporate teacher technology competency standards and local school districts must require teachers to demonstrate proficiency in these standards as part of each teacher's Professional Development plan.   Evidence that districts are meeting the requirement is a prerequisite to expenditure of a district's technology funds.

    Expiration Cycle for Technology Proficiency

    (matches your teaching certificate's expiration date, save National Board)

    You must demonstrate techology proficiency by June 30th of your current
    validity period (recertification cycle).  Use the color codes below to determine
    appropriate courses of action. 

     My certificate expires June 30th, 2015.
     My certificate expires June 30th, 2016.
     My certificate expires June 30th, 2017.
     My certificate expires June 30th, 2018.
     My certificate expires June 30th, 2019.


    Are you coded red?  Your certificate expires this year and technology proficiency is due by June 30th.  Complete the technology proficiency assessment below ASAP.  E-mail Christopher Odom (COdom@rhmail.org) when you are finished. 

    Are you coded yellow?  Your certificate expires next year and technology proficiency is pending.  Complete the technology proficiency assessment this year.

    Are you coded green?  Your technology proficiency is due in two or more years.  Do not complete the assessment at this time.

    Rock Hill Schools Technology Proficiency Assessment

    Certified staff in Rock Hill Schools may establish technology proficiency for the current certification cycle by completing the district's technology proficiency assessment.  A teacher will be certified as proficient if they answer 80% of the assessment questions in the affirmative.
