The School Finder tool leverages the locations services technology in your phone or tablet to indicate the school attendance zone for the precise location where the user is accessing the app. Push notifications allow schools to directly communicate with users important information, whether celebrations, reminders, or closures and delays. Additional features will be added often.
Built in partnership with Blackboard, Inc., Rock Hill Schools’ app brings more than 200 sources of information into the palm of your hand. Users can personalize the app to include information of interest to them whether it be news from one school, sports scores from another, and club information from a third location. With the app, users have real-time information at their fingertips anytime, anywhere. Parents and community members with interests in multiple schools can create a unique display of information by adjusting the settings within the app.
The app extends the district’s ability to communicate with our diverse families in their native language since the app is available in more than 60 languages. Presently, the district contracts with additional third-party vendors to provide translation services for documents and meetings. The language translation feature in the app further allows Rock Hill Schools to communicate in a variety of languages – from English to Estonian, Croation to Cantonese, and Hmong to Mandarian. This feature provides an added instructional benefit for language immersion programs at the district’s choice elementary schools and for foreign language classes at the middle and high schools.
