Future Health Center Site at Belleview
Rock Hill Schools announces a development in ongoing efforts to support the well-being of children and families. Affinity Health Center has received a School-Based Health Center Grant from the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), aimed at expanding access to essential mental health care services. With mental health challenges among adolescents on the rise, the grant marks a significant step toward providing accessible mental health support for youth in Rock Hill.
Recognizing this critical need, Affinity Health Center, in partnership with Rock Hill Schools, has secured funding to establish a full-time, year-round health center site at Belleview. The health center will not only offer medical care but also mental health support for the children and families of Rock Hill Schools.
"Young people need easy, readily accessible ways to get the mental health support they need when they need it," said HRSA Administrator Carole Johnson.
The collaboration between Affinity Health Center and the Rock Hill Schools counseling team will provide coordinated mental health support for children and youth in the district. Affinity's healthcare team will also provide primary medical care, including well-child visits, sick visits, vaccinations, and sports physicals. We anticipate opening the new school-based site in the coming year.
“This is a true win for our community,” said Dr. Tommy Schmolze, Rock Hill Schools Superintendent. “When we can all collaborate to support our families, then our children can really focus on becoming our community’s future.”
Affinity Health Center has served our community for the past 23 years, offering patient-centered care. Their services are available to everyone, regardless of income or insurance status, and provided on a sliding fee scale. No one is turned away due to inability to pay.
Join us in celebrating this significant milestone as we work together to ensure the well-being of our students and families.
