Rock Hill Schools Announces Administrative Changes

On Aug. 8, 2022, Rock Hill Schools’ Board of Trustees approved the following administrative changes for the 2022-23 school year as recommended by district leadership. We look forward to welcoming the following individuals to Rock Hill Schools.

Mount Holly Elementary announces Tiffany Burris as assistant principal for the 2022-23 school year.

Burris is joining the Mount Holly community from York Road Elementary where she has been working as an academic interventionist. She’s familiar with Mount Holly families as she spent 11 years working with the Mustangs as a teacher from 2008 through 2019. She earned a Master of School Administration from the Gardner-Webb University and a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from Winthrop.

York Road Elementary announces Matthew English as assistant principal.
English is joining the York Road community from California where he has been a principal at a K-8 school for four years. Prior to that he served an elementary principal for four years and vice principal for two years. He also has classroom experience as he spent nine years as an elementary teacher.
He earned a Master of Arts in Educational Leadership from California State University, Sacramento. He also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of California, San Diego.

South Pointe High School announces Derek Shoup as assistant principal for the 2022-23 school year.
Shoup has spent seven years as a Dean of Students in Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools. Prior to taking an administrative role, he spent about nine years as a science teacher in Charlotte. He earned a Master of Arts in Educational Leadership from Wingate University and a Bachelor of Business Administration from Western Michigan University.
