“Outstanding service” leads Board to extend Cook’s contract
As required by district policy and his employment contract, the Rock Hill Schools Board of Trustees met in executive session Monday evening to discuss Superintendent Bill Cook’s performance evaluation.
"I am grateful to the Board of Trustees for their trust, commitment, feedback and support of the work we are doing in Rock Hill," Cook said.
"I am fortunate to work with an amazing team of committed people who value students and the work we are doing together to make Rock Hill School District the best. We have a great school district with talented teachers, administrators, and support staff who are dedicated to our 17,617 children. I look forward to continuing the work we began sixteen months ago and the difference we will make for our students, their families and our team members.”
Board chairman Helena Miller read the below statement regarding Dr. Cook’s performance evaluation following a 7-0 vote to extend his contract one year through June 30, 2023:
“We are pleased with Dr. Cook’s first 16 months of outstanding service to our students, staff and community. This year, highlights included a balanced budget, hiring and retention bonuses for staff, and the hiring of additional mental health counselors and School Security Officers for all of our schools.”
“We recognize Dr. Cook as a strong advocate for all the students and staff in our district, fostering a mentality of One Team One Mission One Rock Hill. He has made strides towards building unity and a cohesive team in our district, and for that we say thank you.
He is engaged and highly visible in our schools and community. We recognize his efforts in improving stakeholder involvement through “Listen and Learns” and building relationships within our community.”
“We celebrate the academic gains under Dr. Cooks leadership. However we realize that some goals related to student achievement may take multiple years to attain. His focus has been apparent and we expect to see further gains as a result in the coming year.”
“We thank the Superintendent for a job well done and look forward to what is to come. Based upon the superintendent's leadership and overall outstanding evaluation, and, consistent with the terms of his contract, we will extend his contract by one year until June 30, 2023.”
