My name is Julia Harris and when I attended Northwestern (class of 2009) I was in the AP Art program and the highlight of my day was the ATC animation and photoshop classes. Since graduation I received a Studio Art degree from BYU-Idaho, focusing on illustration and storyboarding. I had every intention of attending a school with an animation degree, but as I went through college I realized that my path was not to be a simple animator but to be a leader in my industry. Now, with my bachelors degree in hand, I'm pursuing an entertainment law degree and trying to establish my own animation studio so I can create a place where artists can be free of the bureaucracy and politics that suffocate the current entertainment industry and instead be able to create and collaborate in an open environment. Of course that doesn't mean I don't have fun with my art degree in the meantime. Right now I'm a digital illustrator for a costume company called Little Adventures. I design everything from dresses to foam swords and shields and get to learn new things every day about working as a team and receiving and giving direction in my department. It's been a journey full of surprises so far but I've always ended up where I need to be even though it wasn't where I intended to go. Check out my online portfolio at juliasharris.carbonmade.com
