A graduate from 2009, Ethan Brown has enjoyed a wonderful life outside of his experience at Northwestern focused on community service and the pursuit of artistic expression. He was accepted to Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah shortly after High School, but delayed his undergraduate studies to perform two years of focused community service in northern Argentina where he learned to speak fluent Spanish, as well as other leadership and interpersonal skills that he continues to utilize. Upon his return to the States, he continued his education at BYU, where he graduated in 2016 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Illustration. One of the highlights of his undergraduate study was his internship in New York City, New York, where he lived for a summer learning from the illustrator Brad Holland. Since his graduation, Ethan has traveled extensively throughout the continental united states and throughout Europe. Today, he works as a free lance graphic designer and illustrator. You can see some of his work on his instagram account @ethanbrownillustrates and on his website, www.ethanbrownillustrates.com.
If asked where he saw himself (nine years) in the future, he would respond that during his time at NHS, he had no idea that his dream of being an illustrator was either realistic or possible. Happily, he can report that it is not only possible, but it is a career that has given him amazing opportunities to study and learn from others in a field that is much larger than he realized. In regards to Northwestern High School, Ethan asserts that his ability to pursue his interests is a direct result of the classes he took at NHS because he learned how to study, write, and think in high school."
