Are you ready for a thrilling year in Third Grade??? It is a challenging but rewarding year for students. Teachers will work hard to help students acquire skills to take on more responsibility for their learning. Students will learn study skills, test taking strategies, and spend more time working independently.
In Third Grade, we have an abundance of exciting curriculum. Your student will go from "learning to read" to "reading to learn". Also, they will go from "learning to write" to "writing to communicate". In Social Studies, South Carolina is our focus. We get to learn about all the regions of South Carolina, and how our state began. We learn about The Revolutionary War, The Civil War, Civil Rights, and much more. We study how all of these parts of history affected our state. Science leads us through learning about the Earth's rocks and minerals; land and water features; plants and animals and the distinct environments in which they live; forms of energy: light, sound, and motion. In math, we work hard to continue to develop and extend skills learned in Second Grade. We learn many new math concepts, such as, multiplication, division, and fractions. In third grade, we work hard, but we play hard too!
