Degrees and Certifications:
Ms. Courtney Young
Welcome to 3rd grade! My name is Courtney Young, and this will be my 3rd year teaching at Oakdale. This is my 7th year teaching, and I have taught grades 2-5, with the most experience in 3rd. Third grade is the best!! I am thrilled to be returning to Oakdale and the third grade team!
I was born and raised in Orangeburg, South Carolina. I received my Bachelor’s in Elementary Education from Winthrop University in the Spring of 2014. After graduating, I moved back home and taught for 3 years and earned my Master’s Degree in Divergent Learning from Columbia College. I later relocated back to Rock Hill and have taught 3 years, with two being at Oakdale.
Some of my hobbies include listening to music, writing, eating, and spending time with my family and friends.
My philosophy of education is that all students are unique and must have a stimulating environment where they can grow physically, mentally, socially, and emotionally. In my classroom, I strive to create a positive learning environment, where students are encouraged to be inquisitive and creative, to appreciate each other’s differences, and to instill a love of learning. I look forward to an amazing journey this year accomplishing all of that and more!!
A very inspiring quote that I admire is, “You can’t teach me, if you can’t reach me”.
