Degrees and Certifications:

Ms. Courtney Young

Welcome to Oakdale! My name is Courtney Young, and I am excited to serve as the Academic Interventionist at Oakdale this year! This is my 8th year teaching, in which I have taught grades 2 – 5.

I was born and raised in Orangeburg, South Carolina. I received my Bachelor’s in Elementary Education from Winthrop University in 2014. After graduating, I moved back home and taught for three years and earned my Master’s Degree in Divergent Learning from Columbia College in 2016. I later relocated back to Rock Hill, where I have taught for the past 4 years.

Some of my hobbies include listening to music, writing, eating, and spending time with my family and friends.

My philosophy of education is that all students are unique and must have a stimulating environment where they can grow physically, mentally, socially, and emotionally. In my classroom, I strive to create a positive learning environment, where students are encouraged to be inquisitive and creative, to appreciate each other’s differences, and to instill a love of learning. I look forward to an amazing journey this year accomplishing all of that and more!!

A very inspiring quote that I admire is, “You can’t teach me, if you can’t reach me”.
