Degrees and Certifications:
My name is Misty Mancine and I am excited to be a Reading Recovery teacher at Oakdale Elementary. Our family moved here 3 years ago and this will be my 4th year teaching at Oakdale. I was born and raised in the Finger Lakes region of upstate NY where I taught in the same school district for the first 15 years of my teaching career. I earned my Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary and Special Education from SUNY Geneseo (2000) and Master of Science degree in Elementary Education, with a focus on Literacy, from Keuka College (2004). I earned my Reading Recovery certification through Clemson (2017). My teaching experiences include: Reading Recovery, Universal Pre-K, Kindergarten, First Grade, Third Grade and Elementary Resource.
I am married to my wonderful husband who is a musician/high school choral director (our home is always filled with some kind of music) and we have four amazing children ages 9, 10, 10 (twins) and 12! In my spare time I love to read, sew, and play board games with the kids! Our family is enjoying living in Rock Hill and getting to know the surrounding area.
As an educator my passion is truly with the youngest students. My mission is to build a solid social/ emotional foundation and love for learning and life in all students that extends far beyond the academic classroom.
