Degrees and Certifications:
BA in Sociology with a concentration in Social Work from Winthrop College (now University)
Mrs. Patti Garrison
My background is varied. I started professionally as a social worker for DSS but after a couple of years, the desire to teach became too strong and I returned to Winthrop to complete my teaching credential. I spent about 1 year doing maternity leaves at Rawlinson Road Middle School and Northwestern High School before getting a job at Rock Hill High School. I spent 30 years teaching Social Studies there before retiring in 2008. I spent 8 years working as an administrative assistant for a company in Charlotte before returning to education as the bookkeeper/SIS clerk at York Road Elementary School in January, 2016.
Favorite thing about working in a school: working with children and in my case, working with several of my former Rock Hill High students who now teach/counsel at York Road Elementary!!!
Family: I have two grown daughters, Laura and Katie; two sons-in-law, Albert and Chris; two grandchildren, Cole (15 years old) and Kerriline (4 years old)
Hobbies: I love to read (anything but horror!!!!) and I play the piano. I like to garden as well.
Favorite things: rainy days (if I don't have to get wet!); the color purple; Clemson Tiger football; watching my grandson wrestle and watching my granddaughter ride her play tractor; singing especially old hymns of faith
