Mrs. Bonnie Jean Avilez de Hudson
Bonnie Avilez de Hudson received her BFA in Art Education with a minor in Art Therapy from Seton Hill University. She also has a masters Degree in Spanish Language and Culture from The University Of Salamanca. She is certified in Art, Spanish and Elementary Education. She has additional training in Language Acquisition, Heritage Language Learning and education for 3rd Culture Kids. Mrs. Avilez de Hudson’s teaching experience includes teaching ESOL at an IB school in the Middle East, and short-term children’s summer camps in various countries in South and Central America. In her 20 years experience in teaching world languages she has taught at all levels k-12 and returned to her favorite 2nd grade. She is a strong advocate for global literacy and early language learning but also believes it’s never too late to learn another language. (She is currently brushing up on her French and learning Hebrew.)
Mrs. Avilez de Hudson’s professional interests include collaborative learning, global literacy and real life approaches to language learning. Sra. Avilez de Hudson’s classroom is a language laboratory! When you walk into her classroom you will see and hear the excitement and activity of students immersed in the language reading writing, and speaking; engaging in instruction, investigation and learning. Her community of students are collaborating to accomplish academic and personal goals and laughing and enjoying the experiences. Her personal interests include enjoying life with family, serving in ministry, tending to her humble farm, dance, painting and plating an awesome dish to family and friends.
