Mrs. Christine Ross
Originally from Buffalo, New York, new Visual Arts Educator Christine Ross’ work as an artist, educator, and lifelong learner have brought her to the Independence Elementary School family after 9+ years teaching and 17+ years coaching in upstate New York and south-central Florida.
Christine received her Masters of Science Art Education Degree and a Bachelors of Science Degree at Springfield College in Art Therapy and Psychology. During her time at Springfield College, Christine was a two- sport collegiate student-athlete (Field Hockey and Basketball), where she was awarded Athlete of the Year honors as well as national recognition as a Strength and Conditioning All-American.
As an educator, Christine has created, designed, and implemented various Visual Art programs from Early Childhood through Secondary Education from the ground up, creating student-centered high-energy and interactive curricula and lessons. Her vision to reach all learners through the arts is evident in her creative, whole-brain thinking approach aimed at transforming student learning to encourage creative growth, aesthetic understanding, and self-development.
“I want to create a community of learners that will create works of art that involve collaboration, discovery, and expression for individual growth as well as for the benefit of others.”
Outside of school, Christine enjoys practicing her craft as a private commission artist, as well as developing Art To Table, a fine arts-centered company she founded and created in 2018 - geared at helping to change the way people learn through art. With a goal of discovery and collaborative creativity, services range to include art therapy, workshops, educator training, and more! All of which keeps Mrs. Ross, her husband, and their energetic Mini-Australian Shepherd very busy!
