The Literacy Center of the Piedmont is a non-profit organization whose mission is to assist adults of the area in improving their reading, math, or conversational reading skills, and be better prepared to complete their educational goals. We recruit and train tutor volunteers to assist in our program.

We partner primarily with the Rock Hill School District Three Adult Education program, which provides the salaries of our coordinators, provides support and training, facilities, materials, and funding for our program. In addition Adult Education provides an ESL teacher and materials for that class. For many years Adult Education has been involved in promoting adult literacy in our area. One of our major goals is to help capable students advance into the GED/TASC program.

United Way of York County SC also partners with and contributes towards our funding.  We are currently the only literacy program in the area that utilizes a Literacy Coordinator, a Student/Tutor Coordinator, and a tutor program.

If you are interested in becoming a tutor, please call 803-981-1377.
