Inspiring Spaces: Second Year Classroom Reveals
For the second year in a row, three teachers in Rock Hill Schools will be starting the school year with completely renovated classrooms as part of the Inspiring Spaces program.
Superintendent Dr. Tommy Schmolze and district administrators revealed three classroom renovations as part of the new program. These reveals were ready for our students to arrive on Aug. 8.
The program started in April and promised dream classrooms for three of the district’s most inspiring teachers.
“These teachers leave an impact on our students in the best of ways,” Dr. Schmolze said. “These updated classrooms are just a tool for them to be even more inspirational.”
We had more than 70 nominations from students, parents, alumni, and supporters who shared what makes our teachers inspiring to them. The outpouring of stories was incredible. Our three winners were selected based on the heartfelt words you all wrote.
Amanda Bolt, a teacher at Northside Elementary, wished for a more collaborative space where she could connect with her first graders on a deeper level.
Paul Johnson, a social studies teacher at Dutchman Creek Middle School, wanted his space to reflect the interesting subject matter he is teaching our students. He even added picnic tables right outside his classroom, so he could teach outside.
Allison Jordan, a math teacher at Northwestern High School, dreamed of a classroom with interactive elements, like whiteboard desks, so she could take her students' math skills to new heights.
All three classroom makeovers were made possible through the support of our community partners who donated more than $180,000 in renovations. The Foundation for Rock Hill Schools awarded each teacher with a $100 Visa gift card.
