Dr. John Jones Appointed to the 2024 Class of Leadership South Carolina

Dr. John Jones, Deputy Superintendent of Rock Hill Schools, has been appointed to the 2024 class of Leadership South Carolina.

Leadership South Carolina is the oldest and one of the most recognized state leadership organizations in the country and is dedicated to leadership development in educating and enlightening people who have demonstrated a commitment to service in the Palmetto State.

“This opportunity affords me the great opportunity to meet and collaborate with leaders from around South Carolina as well as understand how both the strengths and challenges facing our state affect our school district and community,” Jones said.

The program selects business, state, civic, legislative, and corporate leaders from around South Carolina to nurture a deeper sense of service and civic engagement for the betterment of all South Carolinians.

With over 350 applicants, Dr. Jones was chosen to be a part of a group of 54 participants from around the state, and he, as well as Renee Atkinson, the South Carolina Teacher of the Year, are the only public educators to serve in this year’s class.

“It is my privilege to recognize one of our own,” Superintendent Dr. Tommy Schmolze said during a board meeting. “It is no surprise that Dr. Jones is a part of this esteemed group.”

Dr. Jones is honored to represent Rock Hill Schools with a seat at the table as part of this esteemed group and is grateful for the school district’s support in his participation this year.

“I look forward to being a part of South Carolina’s influential network and seeking partnerships that can benefit our work in Rock Hill,” said Jones.
