Rock Hill Schools Announces Administrative Changes
Superintendent Dr. Tommy Schmolze announced today that Kevin Hood will serve as Principal of Mt. Holly Elementary School in the 2022-23 school year.
Hood steps into the role following the retirement of Jackie Jones as she plans to spend more time with her family.
Hood has worked in public education for 30 years, including in his current role as Virtual Academy Middle School Administrator. He transitioned into the virtual role to facilitate online learning for middle school families as a result of the pandemic’s call for online options.
Prior to working with the Virtual Academy, he served as an elementary principal at Belleview Elementary for five school years.
He also spent nine years as principal of Hunter Street Elementary in York School District 1 in addition to working as an assistant principal at Castle Heights Middle School and India Hook Elementary School.
Hood earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of South Carolina. He also earned a Master of Arts in Teaching and certifications in Elementary and Secondary administration from Winthrop University. He also holds an Educational Specialist Degree from the University of South Carolina.
