On June 13, 2022, Rock Hill Schools’ Board of Trustees approved the following administrative changes for the 2022-23 school year as recommended by district leadership. We look forward to welcoming the following individuals to Rock Hill Schools.

Dr. Kershena Dickey has been named Assistant Superintendent of Academics and Instruction. Dr. Dickey’s 27-year career started in Sumter School District Two where she worked as an elementary teacher. From the classroom, she began working as a curriculum coordinator before taking a position in Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools to work on literacy and curriculum efforts. Her leadership helped teachers create and achieve measurable goals based on reading and writing best practices.

She moved into district-level leadership in CMS while working as a Literacy Coach with Title I schools. She worked to address the achievement gap in underperforming Title I schools through coaching, professional development leadership, and instructional support planning. Under her leadership, student achievement increased overall by more than 17 points in one year.

In 2012, Dr. Dickey joined Clover School District as a district administrator responsible for supporting English and Language Arts curriculum. In this role, she helped lead the district to perform in the top ten of state rankings in ELA. She also worked with the Board of Trustees in Strategic Planning process by leading community work sessions and developing action plans for district leadership.

In her most recent role as a principal, she focused on creating customized learning experiences for teacher leaders and aspiring administrators. She’s spent six years improving the school’s instructional leadership and student achievement in both math and reading.

Dr. Dickey holds a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from Claflin University, a Master of Education in Integrated Studies from Cambridge College, an Educational Leadership degree from Lincoln Memorial University, and a Doctorate of Education in Educational Leadership from South Carolina State University.
