Rock Hill Schools Announces Administrative Changes
On June 27, 2021, Rock Hill Schools’ Board of Trustees approved the following administrative changes for the 2021-2022 school year as recommended by Superintendent Dr. Bill Cook. The following individuals will begin their new duties in Rock Hill Schools starting Monday, Aug.2:
Jessica Wren, who has been a dedicated Assistant Principal for the last three years, has been named English to Speakers of Other Languages District Coach.
She will provide leadership for teachers who support students whose primary language is not English.
Wren started with Rock Hill Schools in 2013 at Dutchman Creek Middle School as a Spanish Teacher. She quickly became a shining member of the school team and was nominated as “Teacher of the Year” in 2014 at Dutchman Creek. That year she also became a top three finalist for the South Carolina State Spanish Teacher of the Year. She has also worked at Northwestern High School teaching Spanish before becoming Assistant Principal at Rock Hill High School.
She earned her Bachelor of Arts in English and Bachelor of Arts in Spanish in May 2011 from Winthrop University. She holds a Master of Arts in Teaching — Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages from the University of Southern California and a Educational Specialist's Degree in Educational Leadership from Arkansas State University.
Timothy Sawyer has been named Assistant Principal at Rock Hill High School for the 2021-2022 school year. His 14-year career as a high school math teacher and coach has helped develop his leadership skills and strengthened his administrative abilities.
Sawyer has true passion for student success both inside and outside the classroom. His work as a leader for sports teams across the district proves just that. He joined the Rock Hill Schools team in July 2007 as a math teacher at Northwestern High School. That year he also coached basketball at NWHS. He has continued to coach basketball, golf and football to high school students throughout his career. His mentorship builds upon his own successful track record as a student athlete at Geneva College where he played basketball, baseball and football.
As a student athlete, Sawyer earned his Bachelor of Science in Secondary Math Education from Geneva College in 2007. He also earned a Master’s of Education in 2011 from California University of Pennsylvania.
Stephen Truesdale has been named Assistant Principal at Rock Hill High School.
Truesdale is joining the district from Pickens County where he has been most recently working at Easley High School. He has served as Assistant Principal to about 1,730 students.
Truesdale has worked in schools over the last 15 years as a math teacher, administrator, advisor and leader where he successfully created new programming and was recognized as “Teacher of the Year” for the 2010-2011 school year at John T. Simpson Academy. He also spent time in the U.S. Air Force at Vandenberg Base in California.
He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from Clemson University in 2004 and a Master of Arts in Education from Furman University in 2012.
We welcome these new team members to the Rock Hill School District.
