Provide Feedback on 2019-20 and 2020-21 Calendar

Please read this information before completing the survey.
Over the past month, a team of students, teachers, parents, and school and district administrators have worked to develop draft calendars for the 2019-2020 school year. The team has evaluated seven proposals. While refining the drafts, the group developed three variations in an effort to best meet the needs of students. Additionally, the team has begun its work to develop the 2020-2021 calendar. Please complete this survey to help guide the team's next steps.
To help properly frame the calendar  development, please understand there are restrictions and limitations set in the South Carolina Code of Laws, Rock Hill School District Policy, and local historical preference. For example:
  • School cannot begin prior to the third Monday in August.
  • The calendar must include 180 days for students and 190 days for teachers.
  • The calendar must include 5 days set aside for professional development and 5 days for teacher work days.
  • The calendar must include at least three days designated as make-up days in the event of inclement weather or other situation that causes schools to close.
  • When possible, align student holidays with other school districts in York County.

Included in the options are 3 possible variations for 2019-2020 and 1 possible option for 2020-2021.

Note: The key difference in drafts for the 2019-2020 calendar is the placement of make-up days.
