The Flexible Learning Center, which houses three alternative learning programs, is happy to welcome new faces and to see familiar faces in different positions!
Mrs. Hayes is our new executive administrative assistant. She came to us from the Boys and Girls Club, and we are so happy to have Mrs. Hayes running the show!
Mr. Berry is a familiar face at the Flex Center; he has worked in Alternative Programs for 9 years, teaching social studies at the Renaissance Academy. He decided to teach at the Phoenix Academy to further his experience working in an alternative setting. He earned his B.A. at Winthrop and his M.Ed. from the University of South Carolina. “I am excited to meet my new students and add my teaching methods and style to the amazing Phoenix team.” Phoenix staff are thrilled to have Mr. Berry.
Mrs. Mack, who taught English at South Pointe High School before coming to Phoenix Academy, has moved to Renaissance Academy. One of Mrs. Mack's favorite things to do is to read books that students can connect with and interact with her students.
Taking the position of social studies teacher at Renaissance Academy is Mrs. Simpson. She previously taught at the Rock Hill Virtual Academy: "My husband and I moved from Charleston to be closer to family and a change of scenery. I taught at Wando High School for the past 6 years and North Charleston High School for 2 years prior to that. I am excited to be joining the Renaissance Academy."
