Suicide Prevention Awareness Month

September is Suicide Prevention Awareness Month, and at STMS, we are committed to supporting our students' mental health. Throughout the month, the STMS School Counseling Department will be providing students with healthy mental health tips and activities to promote well-being. Here’s what we have planned for the month:
  • Healthy Mental Health Tips on the Morning News: Every Monday, the school counseling team will share mental health tips and facts on the morning news.
  • Mental Health Monday Check-ins: School Counselors will be doing check-ins with students to provide additional support.
  • NAMI Representative & District Mental Health Therapist Visit: On September 18th, during lunch, a representative from the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) and our district’s mental health therapist will be available to share resources and information about maintaining mental health.
  • Classroom Mental Health Sessions: School Counselors will be visiting classrooms throughout the month to provide mental health tips and encourage open conversations.
  • Green-Out Day (September 27th): To show support for Suicide Prevention Awareness Month and healthy mental health, students and staff are encouraged to wear green on September 27th. Let’s paint the school green in support of Suicide Prevention and mental health awareness!
Thank you for your support as we work together to raise awareness and promote the mental well-being of all our students. If you have any questions or concerns about these activities, please feel free to reach out to us.
