YCPL Summer Reading Program

York County Public Library Summer Reading Program/Lesslie Library Summer Reading Program

Dreaming of warm weather and a good book?  Discover the joys of summer reading through “Oceans of Possibilities,” this year’s Summer Reading Challenge! The challenge begins on June 6 and ends on July 29. Register at any YCL branch, the Bookmobile, or online, starting May 16. Visit yclibrary.org to use our fun, interactive Beanstack service.

Here's How It Works.....
Beginning June 6, children ages 3 -11 can start tracking their summer reading progress online.  If students prefer, they can pick up a reading record at the YCPL, and mark or sticker a circle for every 12 minutes of reading or listening to an audiobook. Log all 10 hours (600 minutes) of reading using the YCPL's Beanstack software, or simply return the completed reading record to the nearest YCPL branch by July 29 to receive these prizes: a summer reading medal, reading certificate, a choice between a sun fun visor, tropical fish beach ball, squeeze shark slime or beach play set, incentives from sponsors, and an entry in the Grand Prize Drawing. One randomly-selected winner from each public library receives a $50 Books-A-Million gift card, tropical fish bubbles, wind-up submarine, Mighty Mights Turtle, drawstring book bag, and more.  Each time students complete the 10-hour challenge,  they'll be entered in the Grand Prize Drawing at the end of the program.
