- Staying in an emergency shelter or transitional housing
- Living in a motel, hotel, car, RV, public space, or other place not typically used as housing because you have nowhere else to stay
- Sharing housing with relatives or friends because of loss of housing, economic hardship, or a similar reason
- A migratory child or youth living in one of the situations described above
- A school-aged child or youth living without a parent or legal guardian in one of the situations described above

Students who qualify for McKinney-Vento services may be eligible to:
- Enroll in school immediately, even if documents normally required for enrollment are not currently available, such as school records, immunization records, proof of residency, or other documentation
- Remain in their school of origin when it is in the student's best interest
- Receive transportation to and from the school of origin, when eligible
- Participate fully in school programs and activities for which they are eligible
- Receive assistance connecting with community resources and support services
If your family's housing situation is uncertain or you are unsure whether your child qualifies, please contact a Family Outreach Associate or the McKinney-Vento Liaison for assistance.
