Orchestra Director Dr. Thomas Hildreth
Dutchman Creek Orchestra
The DCMS Orchestra Program gives students the opportunity to learn and perform on the stringed instruments of the orchestra: violin, viola, cello and bass. 6th graders will choose the instrument they are going to play at the beginning of the year and then start to develop the skills needed to play in an ensemble. Building on that foundation, the 7th and 8th grade Advanced Orchestra provides students the chance to play more challenging music.
DCMS also has an Electric Sting Ensemble that includes drums, bass, guitar and electric violins, violas and cellos. This group plays music from a variety of contemporary styles like rock, soul and funk.
The orchestras will play two major concerts each year – one in the Fall and one in the Spring. Additionally we perform for the Night of the Arts and at various off-campus locations including a chance to play at Carowinds and at Dollywood.
If you want to learn an instrument, make new friends and have a lot of fun, the DCMS Orchestra might be the place for you!
