• Meet our Winthrop Junior Faculty Members

My name is Miranda Roberts and I am an elementary education major from Charleston, SC. I am an only child and very close with my parents! In my free time I love to travel around the state visiting friends or curled up in bed reading a good book! I am so incredibly excited to get to be a part of the sunset park community this year!

I am Amber Leppard, senior at Winthrop University. I am working toward getting my bachelor’s degree in special education and hoping to pursue a career as a teacher! I was born and raised in Greenville, SC. I will be getting married in October of 2020 to my high school sweetheart. My fiancé is pursuing an education in kinesiology at Anderson University. Also, I love spending time with my family watching Clemson football, and going bowling. I am looking forward to an amazing year!

My name is Michael Cahill, an elementary education major at Winthrop University and serving as a Junior Faculty Member at Sunset Park Elementary School this fall, while I complete my senior internship. I am very excited to be at this school, getting to know our students, helping them grow as learners, and continuing to build my skills, strategies, and disposition as a future educator. I am originally from Kingston, New York (upstate), where I spent the first 20 years of my life and have lived in a few other places, such as Wichita, Kansas, and now Indian Land, South Carolina, where I reside with my father, Mike; my girlfriend, Cassidy; and our dog, Cam. I love to travel and have studied a semester abroad in London, England for 3 ½ months, spent July of 2018 teaching American English in Shijiazhuang, China, and have taken shorter trips to places like Montreal, Paris, Amsterdam, and Ireland. I also very much enjoy reading, cooking, and spending time with my family. I am passionate about protecting our natural environment as I try to reduce, reuse, and recycle as much as possible. I am also passionate about advocating for recognizing human and non-human, animal rights and am motivated to be an effective teacher as the best way to help preserve our planet and protect its inhabitants is to teach our youth to respect ourselves, each other, and where we live.
