Mr. Darren Shaw
About Me: My name is Darren Tyler Shaw, I have been a member of the falcon family since 2017. I am a Paraprofessional working with the ESE department in the Learning Connections classroom. I am a recent graduate of the University of South Carolina with a degree in Public Health and am currently enrolled in graduate school at Francis Marion University working towards my master’s in teaching students with learning disabilities. Before working at Sullivan, I was employed by the Department of parks, recreation, and tourism in Greenville, South Carolina. I worked four years as a counselor for Camp Spearhead, a camp for individuals 8 years old to end of life that have any form of disability from mental to physical. I live in Rock Hill and have five younger brothers aged 3-21. It has been a challenge being an older brother to so many, but I have learned so much from my experiences that I hope to utilize throughout my whole life.
Learner Profile: There are multiple learner profiles that best describe who I am and who I aspire to be. I am and Inquirer, my natural curiosity always has me asking questions because I push to know as much as I possibly can, I want to fill my brain with as much experience as possible. I am Open-Minded, I am a lover of cultural diversity, I want to put myself into the cultures of others to experience how they live day to day, and I embrace the notion of acceptance and I praise those individuals that display their culture proudly. I am Caring, I will take the time out of my day to ensure my students and peers are doing alright. I am a Risk-Taker, I am always up for a new challenge, and will never back down or give up even when it gets rough.
