Thanks to all the students who participated in the 2016-17 Reading Challenges hosted by the Media Center. Mrs. Polk is busy planning the challenges for next school year but in the meantime, read this summer and participate in the Summer Reading Challenge Bingo. The Bingo card is not title-driven, instead each space has a physical component such as “read outside” or “read out loud to a little kid” and even “read a story your wrote yourself.” Each space does assume you complete the book or story even if you don’t do the physical part for the whole reading time (in other words, you don’t have to read an entire book while you’re in a pillow fort!). You also don’t have to read an entire novel to an adult!
In the fall, plans are to kick off with a reading challenge on Canvas so be on the lookout for that “course” in your Canvas classes come August when you get your laptop!
The Media Center current Reading Challenges include:
Summer Reading Bingo at RRMS for all rising 6th, 7th & 8th Print off a Bingo card (front and back) and get busy reading. You don’t actually need to get BINGO to qualify for the ice cream party on August 30th, but the more you read the more your chances of winning a free new book, or other library goodies.
If you’re a rising 6th grader and would like to participate in the Battle of the Books in the fall, here is a reading list you can start on today (Battle of the Books list). We have ten titles selected and teams will form in August. The school level Battle clubs will meet August through November and the final district competition will be in November before Thanksgiving.
