Tdap Vaccine Requirement

  • In accordance with the South Carolina Code of Laws and State Regulations, a Tdap vaccine is now a requirement for students 7th -12 grades to attend public school. The Tdap vaccine is a booster that protects against three serious diseases: tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis (whooping cough).  Documentation that your child has received the Tdap vaccine will need to be provided to the school. If your child still needs to get the immunization, you must get an appointment with your pediatrician or seek out a clinic to arrange for the immunization. If your child has not had the vaccine by the start of the 2022-23 school year, he/she will have 30 days to get the vaccine. After the 30th day, if your child still has not had the vaccine, your child will not be permitted to attend school until the school receives documentation that the vaccine has been given.
