Beginning in April we will start taking 2017-2018 Challenger After-School registration packets. Parents will need to submit a new enrollment packet for 2017-2018 as this year’s forms over will not carry over. Forms will need to be returned to the District Office before the school year ends.
The District Office will relocate in June. If you already know your child will be returning to Challenger when school starts in August, please have Challenger paperwork in place before school is out. Current accounts will not carry over.
2017-2018 School Year
Deadline to register for Challenger with an August start date is July 20, 2017. If you miss the July 20th deadline, then the next start date is on September 5, 2017. Registration for the September 5th start date must be completed by August 30, 2017.
What is Challenger?
Challenger is an after-school enrichment program for students in Kindergarten through 5th grade. The program is housed at each of the district's elementary schools. The Challenger enrichment program is separate from the regular school day. Challenger is an optional, self-supporting, academic program. The Challenger program operates daily during the school year from 2:30 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Enrollment for Challenger is on a full-time basis during the school year. Enrollment is based on the expectation that students are able to actively participate in the program and meaningfully benefit from being with other children. Registration forms must be turned in to the Site Director for their review.
How do I register my child for Challenger?
Give a completed registration form (pages A, B, C and D with banking information) to the site director at your child's school. Registration forms are in the office of our elementary schools, at the Rock Hill Schools District Office, or can be found below. When completed registration forms are received by the site director on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday, there is usually enough time to set the account up for the student to begin the following Monday. The Challenger site director will notify you of your child's start date.
How can I reach my Challenger Director?
Challenger at Rosewood gives your child an opportunity to stay after school to work with certified staff to get help with homework and/or other activities at each grade level. We provide a snack and break right after school then work on homework until 4:30. After that we have time for other activities such as board games, computer lab time, and movies.
Please remember that your child will need to be picked up by 6:00 pm or an additional charge will be drafted from your account. If you have any questions about our program, please contact me. I am available to return phone calls during the hours of 3:30-6:00.
2:30 – 3:30* Attendance, Snack, Outdoor Time
