Standards-Driven Math Instruction at Rock Hill Schools

At Rock Hill Schools, elementary mathematics instruction is guided by the 2025 South Carolina College- and Career-Ready Mathematics Standards, recently revised to strengthen students’ understanding of mathematical concepts, reasoning, and real-world problem solving. Teachers across our district use these updated standards to design engaging, hands-on lessons that prepare students for future success in school, college, and career.

Parents can explore these new standards in a clear, easy-to-read format using the state’s Parent-Friendly Standards resource:

i-Ready Classroom Mathematics Implementation in Rock Hill Schools

Rock Hill Schools is excited to announce the adoption of i-Ready Classroom Mathematics as our new core instructional resource for elementary math. This comprehensive program aligns with the 2025 South Carolina Mathematics Standards and supports our district’s commitment to a math workshop model—combining whole-group instruction, small-group collaboration, and independent practice to build strong mathematical thinkers.

In addition to classroom instruction, students use i-Ready’s online learning component, which provides each child with a personalized learning pathway tailored to their unique needs. These pathways are generated from the results of a math diagnostic assessment administered at the start of the school year. Students are expected to engage with their individualized lessons for 30–49 minutes per week, reinforcing key skills and concepts at their own pace. To monitor growth and guide instruction, students will complete additional i-Ready diagnostic assessments in the winter and spring.

To strengthen home-school connections, i-Ready also provides Family Letters for each math unit. These letters include interactive activities and discussion prompts that families can use at home to support understanding and keep students engaged in math learning beyond the classroom.
