Degrees and Certifications:
My name is Kayla Pengelski. I am a native of Rock Hill, South Carolina, and I received my Masters in Social Work and Empowerment Practices from Winthrop University in 2015. I am also a Licensed Independent Social Worker-Clinical Practice in the State of South Carolina. I am encouraged to know that the Rock Hill School District has emphasized the importance of naturalistic resources within their schools to implement and sustain effective supports for students’ learning and emotional/behavioral health.
Throughout my career, I have always been drawn to vulnerable populations, specifically school-aged children. I have thorough experience in working with students struggling with severe emotional and behavioral issues, as well as those struggling with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities. I am versed on the DSM-V, developing and implementing treatment plans, monitoring and utilizing Diagnostic Assessments, as well as providing crisis intervention. I am a strong advocate for person-centered care and the inclusion model for students as I believe that all students have the means to become successful and deserve the right to self-determination. As a South Pointe graduate, I am looking forward to bringing my education and learning full circle as South Pointe's Mental Health Counselor. Go Stallions!
