HELLO!!!  And welcome to my class!  I am excited to start my 7th year of teaching 2nd grade in Rock Hill and at Richmond Drive.  I love our school and all the families who attend here. It truly is a special place to teach.  Prior to being in Rock Hill – I was in Richland 2 school district in Columbia, SC where I taught ESOL (English to Speakers of Other Languages) at Hand Middle school and Dreher and Columbia High School.  I love my job as a teacher and I am passionate about advocating for my profession.

I grew up as an ESOL student myself – my mom is Peruvian and my dad was in the Air Force when they met.  My first language was Spanish and I lived in Spain for 6 years growing up - from the ages of 10-16.  I can speak, read and write in both English and Spanish – what a BONUS!!   I believe as a teacher my job is to set achievable but challenging class tasks; Provide differentiated learning activities to meet the needs of all my students; Provide a quality classroom environment in which all students feel valued and respected by the teacher and by fellow students and to work hard to develop positive relationships with all students and their parents.

I have been married for 23 years to my husband and best friend.  We have two beautiful children.  My daughter starts College this year and my son is entering the 10th grade and praying for a football season.  While I am happy that my daughter is off working on achieving her dreams, I am also sad that she will not be home with us.  I cherish the close bond we have and am going to miss her company.  My advice to you all is to cherish these moments you have with your sweet little ones because time really does go by too fast.

In my class I use Class Dojo as a platform for communication with parents.  Once you have set up an account linked to our class (instructions to follow on first days of school) you will be able to privately email me, look at our class story to see what we are up to and receive newsletters and updates.  I am also available via school email.  Please don’t hesitate to reach out and contact me if you have any questions or concerns.

I am looking forward to meeting with you and your sweet little one!
