Independence has a morning news program that is on air each morning starting at 7:45. Students run the entire program with assistance from Ms. Weeks. They learn to use the video camera, video mixer, audio sound system, and this year will learn to use special effects with our new Green Screen. Students in grades four and five apply to become news announcers. They relay school announcements to the faculty and staff. They also share the weather, noteworthy dates, the daily lunch menus, etc. The students also have a short segment of exercises to get students up and active early in the morning. Guest announcers also periodically join in the program. The lunch menus are read by students in grades one through five. This gives all students a chance to be a part of the program. Applications for INN are passed out to students during the first week of school.
