Degrees and Certifications:
Ms. Sharon Gayton
I received my bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Winthrop University in 1990. Since then, I have also received my Masters in Special Education and Reading. I am National Board Certified and received my Gifted and Talented endorsement from Converse College. In addition, I am Montessori Certified from Montessori Opportunities.
This will be my 27th year in education. I began my teaching career in Kings Mountain, NC and remained there for seven years teaching 2nd grade. In an effort to be closer to home, I took a job in Lancaster County for four years teaching 4th and 5th grade. Finally, in 2001, I began teaching 4th grade in Rock Hill School District 3. Since being in this district, I have taught 1st -4th grade. This year, I am excited about teaching 5th grade again.
I have been married to Tim Gayton for 27 years. We have twin boys, Timario and Timothy who are 25 years old, and one daughter, Timechia, who is 21 years old. We have three grandchildren, Zoe (5), Tyler (4) and Thailan (4).
I love to read and spend time doing church activities. I am excited about the 2017-2018 school year and my grade change!
