Degrees and Certifications:
Ms. Janet Emerick
This is my second year at Sunset Park! I graduated in May 2013 with a Bachelors of Science in Early Childhood Education from Winthrop University. I graduated Cum Laude and as the South Carolina Early Childhood Association President for the Winthrop Chapter. I am currently studying at Winthrop University again, in order to get my Master's Degree in Literacy.
This will be my sixth year teaching! I am originally from Rock Hill and a product of Rock Hill Schools. I taught first grade for four years previously at Lewisville Elementary in Richburg, SC, as part of Chester County Schools. Other experiences in the classroom include a year-long internship in a kindergarten classroom in Buffalo, SC, student teaching, Teacher Cadet (RHHS), and being a lead teacher in the children’s ministries at my church for over 10 years.
I was born and raised in Rock Hill, SC, so the majority of my family still live in Rock Hill. I am extremely close to my parents (Debra and Allen), my brother (Russell), and my grandmother (Maw-Maw). I have a half brother (Paul) and a half sister (Joanne) who live in Boston, MA. I also have two stepbrothers (Adam and Greg) who live in Lancaster, SC and Concord, NC. I am also blessed with 3 nieces and 3 nephews, whom I love dearly. I have a 14-year-old Jack Russell Terrier named Angel, who is my co-pilot in life.
I would describe myself as driven and passionate about my career, my family, and my faith. I love being a teacher and getting to do what I have dreamed about doing since I was 6 years old. I am very active in my church, Harvest Ministries Church of God of Prophecy where I have been a member for 13 years. As mentioned above, I serve in the children’s ministries there, as well as serving as a youth group volunteer, as co-director for VBS and missionary. I just returned this summer from a ten day missionary trip to Peru and I can not wait to go back! I also love reading, crafting, painting, drawing, cooking, and trying new activities. I am so excited to embark on a new adventure with your child this school year!
