Process

1. First you will be divided into groups of three. The teacher will assign the groups.

2. In your group you will research three topics- A) mental retardation B) the effects of retardation on the lives of siblings C) how to write an editorial to the newspaper.

3. Within your group you will decide which part of the research each of you will do.

4. You will use the listed sites to collect the data you will need. Questions will be given for each topic that will help you guide your research.

6. Your next step will be to work with your data and write a summary for each topic.

7. Use these summaries to write your editorial for the newspaper.

8. Discussion Groups: After your editorials are written, you will peer edit the letters and go back to your groups to write your final draft.

9. The letters will be sent to The Herald. If your letter is published, your group will earn extra credit points and a choice of an extra activity.

 

****EXTRA CREDIT****
