Child Find

Students with disabilities need specialized services and related services to have the opportunity to reach their potential.  Rock Hill Schools Exceptional Student Education has defined processes to help determine which students are eligible for Special Educations services.

Child Find is the term that refers to identifying students as eligible for services and related services under the Special Education Law - IDEA-2004


Child Find for Preschool-aged Children and Private School/Homeschooled Students

Child Find is a screening and evaluation process designed to aid in identifying children not attending Rock Hill public schools who may qualify as a child with a disability who demonstrates a need for special education services.   Appointments with the Child Find clinic is available for children of preschool age (ages 3-5), or for school-aged students attending private school, or are home schooled within the Rock Hill Schools service area.

Referral Process and Procedures For SECONDARY Students Enrolled in Rock Hill Schools

Before considering a referral for special education evaluation, schools should provide struggling students with RTI (Response to Intervention) or student problem-solving support.  If your school needs forms/processes for an RTI process, use the following form: (NOTE:  These ARE NOT referral forms.)
